Bunny's Flowers

Author/Teacher: Francine Elizabeth Natal aka SAGE

SHORT STORY:
Who am I? Technically I am a perennial in “frost free zones”.
I thrive to put on my best display in fertile, well-watered and well-drained soil.
My BLOOM TIME is in the Summer.
My average plant height is 8 to 10 inches.
My light requirements are sun and part shade.
I close my Flower head at night to protect my pollen and other reproductive parts from various unwanted pests i.e., “night robbers” who would steal my nectar.
I attract Beetles, Grasshoppers and European Earwigs.
Although I am a common wildflower and plant in much of North America, I am native to Europe.
According to an old Celtic legend, whenever an infant dies, God sprinkles me over the earth to cheer the parents up.
People drink me- a wildflower tea for coughs, bronchitis, disorders of the liver and kidneys, and swelling (inflammation). They also use me as a drying agent (astringent) and as a “blood purifier.” Some people use me for preventing problems during childbirth, pain and soreness, and minor bleeding.
Who am I?
